Rooted and Growing Deep: Welcome

Most of us think welcome means saying hello and moving on. But how to make someone feel welcome is a harder question, and it matters more than we admit, especially for the person who walked into a room full of strangers carrying something heavy and wondering if anyone will notice. In this message, we look at a fifteen-year-old who knelt in an airplane aisle and spelled “How are you?” into the hand of a lonely stranger, and at a dinner party Jesus described, where the excuses for staying away didn’t feel like sin. They just felt like Tuesday. Welcome isn’t about fixing anyone or finding the right words. It’s about refusing to let someone be alone and unnoticed. This is week one of our five-week Core Values series.
